• Date & Time: December 15, 2025 (Tue)
  • Location: AKK Cultural Academy campus building and surrounding area
  • Purpose: Initial response during a fire, confirmation of evacuation routes, strengthening coordination with relevant agencies
  • Participants: All faculty, staff, and enrolled students

At AKK Cultural Academy, we conduct regular hands-on drills to protect the lives and safety of our students. With international students from many different countries enrolled at our school, deepening their understanding of Japan's disaster prevention rules is extremely important. This drill was carried out in a practical simulation format under the guidance of the local fire department.

Phase 1: Alarm Activation and Rapid Evacuation Guidance

Under the scenario of "a fire breaking out on the 2nd floor of the main building," the emergency alarm sounded. Faculty and staff immediately made announcements over the PA system and called out to each classroom, guiding students to safe evacuation routes.

Following the principles of "Don't push, Don't run, Don't talk," all students quickly moved to the roll call area. They lined up by class, and headcount confirmation was completed promptly.

Phase 2: Fire Safety Lecture and Fire Extinguisher Instruction by Firefighters

After the evacuation was completed, firefighters delivered a lecture on disaster prevention. The lecture covered how to prevent psychological panic during a fire and the importance of taking initial action when a fire source is discovered.

Proper Use of Fire Extinguishers: "Pin, Pon, Pan"

Students received instruction on how to use fire extinguishers, which are essential for initial fire suppression, using the easy-to-remember mnemonic "Pin, Pon, Pan" (Pull, Point, Press).
(1) Pull the "Pin" -> (2) Point the hose at the fire ("Pon") -> (3) Press the lever ("Pan")

Phase 3: Hands-on Fire Extinguishing Practice by Staff and Students

Using training water extinguishers, participants practiced discharging at targets simulating fire sources as part of initial fire suppression training. Beyond just understanding the concept intellectually, the experience of operating the equipment firsthand builds great confidence in the event of an actual emergency. Not only faculty and staff, but a large number of international students actively participated in the hands-on experience.

Summary: Daily Preparedness Is the Best Disaster Prevention

In closing, the principal delivered an overall review, stating: "Learning a language is of course important, but the first step to a successful study abroad experience in Japan is to acquire the skills to protect your own life and the foundation of your daily life."

AKK Cultural Academy will continue to ensure thorough safety management in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and will devote its full efforts to ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and the local community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the fire department and the neighboring community for their guidance and cooperation.
